Lynne Garcia, former Manager of the UCLA Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, is currently the Director of LSG & Associates, providing training, teaching, and consultation for Diagnostic Medical Parasitology and Health Care Administration. She has given over 400 presentations (international, national, and local) and published over 175 manuscripts, book chapters, and articles. She is the author of Diagnostic Medical Parasitology (5th ed, 2007) and Practical Guide to Diagnostic Parasitology, (2nd ed, 2009) ASM Press, Washington, D.C. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Microbiology Procedures Handbook (3rd ed, 2010) and the Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Laboratory Management in the 21st Century, 2004, ASM Press. She is a Senior Editor for Clinical Microbiology Reviews and a reviewer for 9 other journals. She has served on the CAP Microbiology Resource Committee, the AAB proficiency testing organization, chair of the NCCLS Parasitology Subcommittee, and is a Fellow of The American Academy of Microbiology. She is a past officer for a number of organizations. Research interests include diagnostic medical parasitology, including methodology, and health care administration issues related to the clinical laboratory.
